Tommy McGuffey & True Worship
A musician at heart, Tommy J. McGuffey, Jr. began his journey in community service through the church, where his passion for worship and the arts quickly took center stage. His dedication led to key leadership roles as Minister of Music at several prominent Dayton-area churches and ultimately inspired the formation of Tommy McGuffey & True Worship—a powerhouse ensemble he founded, wrote for, and developed from the ground up.
Tommy & True Worship have ministered on both local and national stages, sharing platforms with Gospel legends such as Dorinda Clark-Cole, VaShawn Mitchell, Anita Wilson, Tonya Baker, Chrystal Rucker, and Amante Lacey, among others. Their anointed performances and powerful sound continue to inspire audiences across the country.
Beyond the stage, Tommy is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of artists. He serves as an adjunct instructor and collaborative pianist at the University of Dayton, a mentor and coach for emerging musicians, and a sought-after lecturer on the intersections of music, ministry, and cultural relevance.
His influential music ministry includes two major projects—“The Declaration” (2016) and “Faze2: The Shift” (2019)—and the authorship of The Call: A Musical Guide Into the Urban Church, a book offering insight and direction for musicians serving in faith-based spaces.
In recent years, Tommy McGuffey & True Worship released two impactful singles: “Better Is Coming” (2023) and “It Shall Be Mine” (2024). The group is currently preparing to release their highly anticipated album, “Conversations,” slated for early fall 2025.
With a ministry grounded in authenticity, excellence, and spiritual depth, Tommy continues to be a creative force and respected voice in contemporary Gospel music.
